Making email-domain configuration understandable.

MXFend · MXFend is my own product. This case study covers its public email-authentication and domain diagnostic tools.

The problem

Email authentication involves several records and protocols. A domain owner needs to understand what a check found and what to investigate next. A bare pass or fail leaves the interpretation to the person using the tool.

01Domain input
02Protocol checks
03Readable findings

Conceptual flow, simplified for this case study.

My contribution

I’m building the product and its public diagnostic tools, bringing protocol checks together with explanations of their findings.

  • Email authentication and domain diagnostics
  • SPF, DKIM and DMARC checks
  • Connecting technical findings to understandable configuration guidance

Engineering decisions

Explain the finding

The useful output is more than a protocol result. Presenting the check alongside its explanation helps a domain owner understand what the finding means and what to investigate next.

Keep the scope concrete

This case study covers the tools that are publicly available. It does not treat planned monitoring or commercial features as delivered work.

Why it matters

This work brings together technical diagnostics and product communication: the check has to be useful to the person making a configuration decision.
